The Opportunity:
Caraway is looking for an exceptional Senior Industrial Designer to join our growing design team and help shape the future of the non-toxic home. In this role, you’ll lead the ideation and creation of thoughtful, functional, and emotionally resonant products — balancing refined aesthetics, sustainability, and manufacturing realities.

This is a high-impact opportunity allowing our new Senior Industrial Designer to bring innovative ideas to life from concept through production while collaborating closely with cross-functional partners across product development, sourcing, marketing, and leadership. You’ll work across a wide range of categories—reimagining everyday objects with a point of view, material integrity, and obsessive attention to detail. You’ll be expected to think strategically, design holistically, and deliver exceptionally crafted solutions that elevate the Caraway brand and customer experience.

Preference for Los Angeles or NYC based applicants but all great candidates will be considered.

Who You Are:
You are a visionary and proactive individual who brings big ideas to the table while feeling just as comfortable rolling up your sleeves to turn those ideas into reality — from initial sketches to DFM-ready CAD. You have a strong expertise in both form and function, with a keen eye for proportion, materials, and color, along with a deep understanding of manufacturing processes. As a storyteller, you communicate concepts with clarity and emotion, using visuals, prototypes, and compelling narratives, whether written or spoken. You thrive in collaborative environments, easily navigating the intersection of design, engineering, brand, and business to achieve shared goals. Curious and thoughtful by nature, you’re always exploring, asking questions, and drawing inspiration from both the ordinary and the unexpected, which fuels your passion for innovation and creative problem-solving.

Responsibilities:

  • Help define and build Caraway industrial design language
  • Lead projects end-to-end from initial conceptualization, design, through development and final production to create innovative product solutions that meet user needs and business goals.
  • Define product specifications based on briefs from internal teams and external partners
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, brand design, marketing, and manufacturing to ensure design feasibility and production readiness.
  • Create detailed sketches, renderings, and CAD models to visualize design concepts and communicate ideas effectively.
  • Conduct user research and usability testing to identify new product opportunities, inform design iterations.
  • Research materials and manufacturing processes to enhance product ergonomics and aesthetics.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and manufacturing processes to incorporate cutting-edge innovations into designs.
  • Present design concepts and progress to stakeholders, advocating for user-centered design principles.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant safety, regulatory, and environmental standards.
  • Detail complete product experiences from purchase to unboxing, assembly and usage

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • 5+ years experience as an Industrial Designer 
  • Agency or in-house design experience is preferable
  • Have shipped real products to customers
  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or relevant discipline
  • Advanced 3D modeling and rendering software skills (the team currently works with Rhino, SolidWorks, Fusion 360 and KeyShot)
  • Design leadership skills with experience on driving a design vision
  • A healthy obsession for quality, detail and aesthetics
  • Great eye for color and CMF trends
  • Up-to-date knowledge of home, cooking and lifestyle trends
  • Passion for materials and manufacturing process
  • Excellent verbal and visual communication skills
  • Team player and come to each new project with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn
  • Highly independent and motivated, comfortable autonomy
  • Ability to quickly adapt in a high-paced environment

The anticipated base salary range for this role ​is $120,000 - $150,000 - Final compensation will depend on a variety of factors determining the base pay at offer, including but not limited to: skills, qualifications, experience. This range provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role.
